Vocatives and digressions in Turkey Turkish

Abstract (EN)

Turkish language has a rich lexis. While some types of words take part in syntax, some do not take in syntax in Turkish language. In addition to the main and auxiliary constituents composing a sentence, some words or groups of words are also used. Vocatives and digressions are among these words or groups of words. Vocatives and digressions have not been researched in detailed way in Turkey Turkish. Therefore, sentence constituents and vocatives, digressions are mixed in Turkey Turkish.In this thesis, we tried to put forward the characteristics of vocatives and digressions commonly used in Turkey Turkish and their place in syntax.The thesis consists of four parts.In the first part, we handled the classifications of the types of words in grammar boks published about Turkey Turkish and ambiguities and the problems caused by the classifications made without depending on any criteria.In the second part, the characteristics of the words that are not related to the sentence constituents in terms of grammar in Turkey Turkish and the wrongness of analyzing these words as a sentence constituent were explained through some example sentences.In the third part, the fact that the vocatives we designated were classified under the exclamation type in Turkey Turkish was put forward through examples from the Works of Turkish linguists. Vocatives were demonstrated through explaining their semantic properties and their position in the sentences and giving examples taken from the literary works in our language. Therefore, it was indicated that it was necessary to handle the vocatives as a type different from the exclamations.In the last part, examples in which the words explaining emotion were given in prepositions and adverbs in Turkey Turkish were provided, and by indicating the semantic properties of the words explaining emotion and their position in the sentences, it was stated that the words explaining emotion should be accepted as a type of word which differs from prepositions and adverbs in various aspects.The thesis was written based on the last findings of the Turkology.Key Words: Main Words, Auxiliary Words, Non- Sentential Constituent, Vocative, Digressions.
