Solo female travellers in Turkey: Their experiences, preferecences, motivation and constraints

Restricting features of package tours, being easier of getting information fast and easy about destinations and recreation facilities, technological development in transportation indusry, willing to be free during travel, factors about changing demographic structures make people to join travel to individual from mass. For that reason, the number of solo travellers increases every year, tours are became to organise for those people wants to join solo travel. Althoug women face greater number of constraints in economical and social space then men, they has become to make solo travel all around the World and their numbers are increasing year by year. The aim of this study is discovering travel constraints, motivations, preferences and experiences of solo female travellers in Turkey and leading to social awareness. In this research, interviewed with 25 solo female travellers have to join solo travel at least ones during their life via semi structural interview method and findings were analysed with content analysis method. During the analysis period, common topics were derived from participants' answers according to dimensions of the research. After that, themes collected by women transfered to main themes and it shows numerically with certain tables. As a result, an intrapersonal constraint type fear is the most common constraint theme of those travellers. The most common travel motivation theme is escaping from daily routine.
