Abstract (EN)
The need of eating and drinking which one of the basic needs of human being, is impressed with environmental and cultural factors. The way to provide eating and drinking needs varies according to people, regions, cultures and countries. Throughout history, people have provided the need for eating and drinking with the help of different ways. Street delicacies has been in social life since the earliest times in history to provide this need. With people have started to live together and trade has adapted to social life, concepts such as ''street delicacies'' and ''street vendors'' were gained in social life. Street delicacies are food and beverages prepared by the manufacturer that can be consumed instantly or later. Street delicacies are among the most recent trends in the world and are seen as important elements of destination image in some regions. While it is much greater importance in some destinations, it is less preferred in some destinations. The aim of this study is to examine the reflections of street delicacies, which are an important element in the definition of destination and human life, in Turkish written media (national newspaper and it's annexes) and how the news is handled in technical and gastronomic terms. In line with the objective, it covers 1,040 national newspapers and the annexes of national newspapers covering the years 2000-2018 (first 6 months). The news was analyzed using content analysis method. According to the results which achieved, it was seen that street delicacies were mostly published in newspaper annexes and at the weekend, not on the first pages and not as the main theme. Findings that the activities related to street delicacies affect the number of news but there is no systematic processing of the news about street delicacies were made and various suggestions were made in order to increase the number and quality of the news.
