The future expectations of the Syrian youth immigrated to Turkey: A case study for Malatya

Abstract (EN)
The study is about the future expectations of the syrian youth, fled from the Syrian Crisis to Turkey, aiming to complete an university degree. It includes a descriptive analysis about immigration and its varieties, reasons and outcomes. Currently recognized statues of immigrants throughout the world and Turkey, the statues of the syrian immigrants in Turkey and the difficulties the immigrates are facing is presented. The results of a field study takes place in the end. According to the results, if given another citizenship to the syrian students, approximately 50% of them would like to gain the turkish citizenship. The Canadian citizenship is the second most desired one. Asian citizenship is not desired at all. Nearly 60% of them are not against to get married with a turk while 40% doesn't consent this marriage. Turkey's future is perceived with positive attitudes and expectances. Most of them wish to see Turkey partaking a key role in Syrian's future. 74.4% of them are eager to return to their homeland when the war comes to end. 86 % of them wish to build a new life in Turkey. Democracy is believed to come to the Syrian state and this new democratic state is wished to have a similar system of government as in the Turkish State. This study is unique because never has a similar case study been carried before for Malatya. Having knowledge of the Syrian students sociological and politic considerations will help to understand the future of the Syrian state after the war.
