Analysis of investment risks of renewable energy systems in Turkey by means of MCDM methods

Energy, which is needed by developed and developing countries, is considered one of the cornerstones of civilization. To meet this need, two types of resources can be utilized: renewable and non-renewable. The fact that non-renewable energy sources are more widespread and cost-effective increases the demand for them. However, the risk of depletion of these energy sources and their environmental impacts pose significant risks for the future and security of humanity. On the other hand, renewable energy sources are generally not considered as the first choice due to their higher initial installation costs. In this study, the investment risks of renewable energy systems, which are widely used in electricity generation such as wind, solar, hydraulic, biomass and geothermal power plants, are analyzed under 5 main headings as 26 risks in total in line with the literature review, and it is aimed to contribute to the determination of the importance ranking of the risks that may arise during the installation, operation and maintenance of these systems.
