Effectiveness of poverty reduction programs in Turkey

Abstract (EN)

This study aims to expose the dimensions of poverty and the effectiveness of poverty reduction programs against poverty in the context of social policies on Turkey basis. In line with this objective, the study draws a theoretical framework on the conceptual dimensions of the poverty fact and touches on the theories extending from the point where the poverty is accepted as income deprivation to the approach that people are lacking in capabilities that they could actualize themselves. Then, it presents Turkey's poverty profile by means of poverty indicators such as income inequality, social life reflections of poverty and human development and it also presents that the poverty in Turkey is experienced multidimensional like the rest of the world. Later in the study, poverty fighting practices those executed in Turkey are studied within the scope of social policies and the effectiveness of these practices on poverty is analyzed.
