This study is prepared by esentially taking on organization and struggle history of road workers and their present conditions in Turkey. In addition to that, in a view to exert road workers? sociocultural profile clearly, it was supported with a survey which has aimed public employees.This thesis consists of four main topic. In the first section of the study, the conceptual framework is drawn. Afterwards, the capitalist process that appeared with the effects of industrial revolution and later on this process, the labor which has tried to express themselves through trade unions is dicussed; with the examples from United Kingdom, Germany, the United States and France. As in the last part of the first section, the rise and the growing of labor in Turkey is examined with two subheadings; Ottoman and Republic period.In the second part, by analyzing the road and road workers? as a matter of fact, growing, organizing and struggling of these workers in Turkey is explained. In this part, it is also searched that; increasing at investments and industrialization have properly a rising effect on the number of workers and number of trade unions which was held by legal arrangements.By essentially taking year 2010 on, it is brought out both personal and organizational behaviours of Turkish road workers? profile. A survey (with 646 road workers) was conducted on road workers in the public sector With this way, this group?s sociocultural structure is determined. Detailed results of this survey is expatiated in the third section.In the fourth part of the study, Turkish road workers are comparatively analyzed with grounding on their main properties like gender, generation gap, urban scale of the place of birth, educational level, working organization, internet usage etc. and and their similarities and differences are introduced.In this age, trying to understand rapid period of change and contributing positively to these changes in consideration of parameters we have is certainly a social responsibility. With this study and within it?s scale, it is intended to contribute in general to the history of Turkey and in particular to the history of labor. Till 2010, there is no survey available in Turkey about road employe status. On that sense, this study is the first and yet the last example of it?s kind.Keywords:1. Road Workers2. Labour (Labor)3.
