Abstract (EN)
Although the first examples of public-private partnership model date back to the Roman era, it was the implementation of its practices in England that made it common around the world. One of the most significant features of public-private partnership is that it offers a solution to the financing problems experienced within the public utilities. The aim of this thesis is to determine whether there is a positive correlation between public-private partnership projects and economic growth, and if there is, to what degree it impacts the growth. In this context, the investments that have been made during the period beginning from 1986, the year public-private partnership began to be used in our country, until 2018. Accordingly, in order to ascertain the relationship between the variables, the relationship between the aforementioned investments and the economic growth was subjected to a comparison with the changes in GDP rates. As a result of this comparison, it was seen that during the periods of depression and the subsequent years the investments decreased, and during the years when the investments were high there was a positive growth in the economy. The relationship between public-private partnership investments and economic growth is not a frequently encountered subject in the literature. Although studies on the definition and practicability of public-private partnership exist within the literature, there are not enough works in our country on the impact of public-private partnership investments on economic growth. Thus, this study is expected to contribute to the literature in that sense.
