Abstract (EN)
In 1990, after the collapse of USSR Turkmenistan gained independence in 1991, it is among the richest countries in terms of hydrocarbon reserves in Central Asia. The owner of the gas reserves is ranked fourth in the world, after the declaration of independence Turkmenistan went to changes in energy policy and a new era has begun in the country. In particular, Turkmenıstan has the largest and the good quality of natural gas reserves, which also has production and export potential in the energy sector. Today Turkmenistan yearly average productıon is 65 billion cubic meters of gas, up to programs it plans to increase the gas volume by 2030 to 230 billion cubic meters and aims to export its 180 billion cubic meters to other countries. Today 94.8% of the total exports made constitutes energy products in Turkmenistan, 67.7% of it is natural gas. The first years of independence Turkmenistan can only sell produced natural gas to Russia, today started to sell natural gas in Russia as well as China and Iran. Soon Pakistan and India will take place in this country. Creating new ways of gas export is it came to be one of the most important priorities of Turkmenistan's energy policy.
