Vocabulary is a set of all kind of expressions such as world of concepts, language patterns and any others used while interacting in a language. Being a highly broad term, vocabulary includes all of the meaningful words and patterns in a language. Serving for one of the most important dimensions of the language, it becomes effective for people to choose the best way of expressing all kind of events, circumstances, feelings and thoughts while communicating with other people.Turkish Language, which linguists analze with a great admiration possesses a prosperous vocabulary that has a serious derivation power and the strenght of expressing all kind of concrete - abstract concepts and situations. Vocabulary consisting of thousands of units that Turkish Language has created with its derivating and conceptualizing strenght in its thousands of years improvement has a power animate even the most abstract concepts in minds.One of three major Works that belongs to Karahanlı Period, ?Divanü Lûgat-it Türk? is the first glossary work known and a qualified source that has been able to reflect all Turkish dialects vocabulary to a certain extent for its own period. The vocabulary items included in this work take their places in Turkish Language dialects today, by changing in terms sound and meaning in Turkish Language?s usual historic evolution.Turkman Turkish is on of the dialects of Oğuz Group in Turkish Language and it welcomes both western and eastern Turkish?s characteristics as it has developed under the influence of Çağatay Turkish. Therefore, it is thought that reflecting the word existence of Karahanlı Turkish?s word existence can be compared by sequential methods and it is possible to get sufficient data in this way.This study aim of which is to determine vatiations occured in Turkman Turkish?s vocabulary in terms of sound and meaning gets its topic from the comparision between today?s Turkman Turkish?s and Divanü Lûgat-it Türk?s word existence both in sound and meaning.The study consists of six sections. In the first three sections, therotical - descriptive information about Divanü Lûgat-it Türk and Turkman Turkish has been given. When it comes to the next three sections, examinaions on sound and meaning variations resulting from comparisions of vocabulary have been done and a list of common words that can be followed has been given under the titles. In sixth section, findings and numerical data of the study have been given under the title of ?Results? and finally used sources have been listed.
