Abstract (EN)

Turkmen Turkish which we centred our study on takes place in East section of Oghuz Group of Turkish. The most significant feature of this dialect is, it contains primary long vowels. Unfortunately, the studies on Turkmen Turkish in our country remained limited to certain numbers until the time Turkmenistan gained its independence. We have seen that gerund structures which are most crowded in number and most complex functionally of the verbals which have an important place in understanding the Turkish Language are not examined independently. In our study titled Gerunds in Turkmen Turkish features of use and functions of gerunds are tried to be determined and explained by scanning the literary works which were written in Turkmen Turkish. Our study consists of two chapters. In the first chapter the matter of the place of Turkmen Turkish among the Turkish dialects is handled shortly since it has been dealt many times in various studies. The main subject of our thesis is classified in the second chapter as the structures used like gerunds, simple gerunds, derived gerunds, compound gerunds. The texts written in Turkmen Turkish are scanned in this chapter and the structures determined are translated in to Turkey Turkish and tried to be explained together with their features of use and functions. The structures set forth in the language studies conducted with respect to Turkmen Turkish are not contented with; further structures like -ArçA -An bäri -Ar yerde which have arisen as a result of the scans and not examined in other sources are included.
