The process of change in the culture of Turkish folk song and Musa Eroglu

The folk song which is a basically product of oral culture has a dynamic structure due to the nature and therefore it is continuously subject to change while keeping the traditional features. In this sense, the change in the society?s perception of folk song and the meaning imposed by society as well as the literary and musical characteristics of folk song might be encountered.The study called The Process of Change in the Culture of Turkish Folk Song and Musa Eroğlu tries to examine the changes in the culture of folk song from 1868 by phases separated and to locate Musa Eroğlu folk song artist in this process of change. In this study, the changes in the culture of folk song generally taking place in four phases have been determined. These phases are respectively as follows: a. Preparation Phase (1868-1922), b. Romantic-Political Phase (1922-1952), c. Exotic Phase (1952-1990), d. Popular Phase (After 1990).Musa Eroğlu, who was born in Popular Phase of the process of change in the culture of folk song and started to play bağlama (instrument with three double strings) and sing the folk song in the same period, continues to work during the Exotic Phase. However, the main importance of him in terms of changes in the culture of folk song is that he took over the leading role with his studies to finish Exotic Phase and to start and improve Popular Phase.
