Özet (EN)
In the thesis study, the investigation of the materials of steel and glued laminated timber (G.L.T.) which are the important elements of the structural systems of today?s time has been performed. Through the direction of the study, the characteristics of the both materials, their places in the structural elements and the formatted features of structural systems which can be constructed by these two materials are researched by the help of tables. At the end of the study, glued laminated timber and steel equipped structural system, which are the frequently used elements in practice, has been searched in terms of form and span criteria and the structural qualifications of these materials have been compared with each other from the point of views of the criteria of total amount of the material used and the economic costs. In the last part, all the data obtained is analyzed comparatively and the overall comments about the obtained results are made.
