Abstract (EN)
There are many different ways to create a graphic design work. Using typographic methods to use the message and sizing them to express them correctly is one of them. This research was carried out in order to understand what kind of effects and contribution three dimensional thinking will have on design, in a way different from the conventional surface designs of typography. It is aimed to emphasize that alternative designs can be made by dimensioning the typography by using different materials or the opportunities offered by the space in order to realize the purpose of conveying the message correctly when needed. In the study, evaluations were made by emphasizing the integrity of verbal-visual meaning rather than the historical meaning. This research provides an overview of three dimensional typography to the reader and the designer. Throughout the research, it has been tried to show a different understanding of the design field to the designer-student audience through the visuals that include sized typographic design examples of important designers and students. The research also includes the studies carried out in the course related to the subject with undergraduate students. Its aim is to give any graphic design student a head start on how typography can be viewed from a different perspective, and at the same time meet the need for a different perspective required in design courses and in environments to work as a designer after graduation. Keywords: Typography, 3D typography, Verbal-visual equality, Verbal-visual contrast
