Abstract (EN)

ABSTRACT Three Different Impression Materials Compared to Time-Dependent Dimensional Stability and Wettability Objective: This study aims to explore the time-dependent dimensional stability of three different elastomeric impression materials (vinyl polyether siloxane (VPES), polyvinyl siloxane (VPS), and polyether (PE)) via micro-CT imaging and to compare the wettability of these impression materials during and after polymerization with contact angle measurements. Material and method: A total of 30 specimens were prepared using 3 mm high 30 mm diameter Teflon mold according to ADA/ANSI classification no: 19. (N=10). Evaluation of the dimensional stability of the impression materials (1st hour, 1st day, 7th day and 14th day) was done via micro-CT imaging. Also, contact angle measurements of these elastomeric impression materials were collected using the sessile drop method (OCA 30, Data Physics Instruments GmbH, Filderstadt, Germany) during and after polymerization at 0., 2., 5.,20.,60.,120., and 240. second. These measurements were made on specimens (n = 10) prepared in standard sizes using a 50 mm deep stainless steel die with dimensions of 62 mm x 20 mm x 3 mm. Results: There were no significant differences between the assessment of dimensional changes among VPES, VPS and PE impression material volumes when diameter measurements of the elastomeric impression materials were evaluated on the 1st hour, 1st day, 7th day and 14th day (p>0.05). As a result of binary comparisons, the evaluation of contact angle measurements of VPES, VPS and PE materials during and after polymerization were compared. The average contact angle measurements of the VPS group were statistically significantly lower than the averages of the VPES and PE groups (p<0.01). Conclusion: The VPS (Monopren transfer) impression materials was found to be the best materials of dimensional stability and wettability.
