Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, it was aimed to produce three roving yarns, which can be considered as a new alternative yarn, in compact spinning technology. For this purpose, a three-roving funnel was designed to feed individual rovings into the drafting system and a three-grooved delivery cylinder was designed to control the movement of the rovings in the drafting system. Moreover, in order to create a separate compacting zone for each roving, different designs have been developed for the air suction guide and the air suction insert that are effective auxiliary parts of the perforated cylinder pneumatic compact spinning technology. The compacting effect created by the different designs of air-suction guide and suction inserts were analyzed with the computational fluid dynamics and the new auxiliary parts that create the better compacting effect are used in the production of compact three roving yarn. 3D printers were used for the production of the newly designed parts. The properties of compact three roving yarns have been compared with compact single-ply and compact siro-spun yarns that have been used commercially for many years. In addition, woven fabrics were produced from these yarns and the fabric properties were compared. Besides, the properties of compact three roving yarns and ring three roving yarns were also compared to evaluate the effect of compacting on the three roving yarn properties. Properties of compact three roving yarn were also compared with compact three-ply yarns that in similar structure. Finally, three roving yarns were produced with different roving spaces, and their properties were compared. Results of comparing yarn properties showed that, roving yarns with better quality properties can be produced in the developed compact three roving spinning technology. Thus, an alternative spinning technology to existing technologies has been introduced, as well as the production of composite yarn for specific purposes.
