Abstract (EN)
The fly ash produced from the burning of pulverized coal in a coal-fired boiler is a fine-grained, powdery particulate material that is carried off in the flue gas and usually collected from the flue gas by means of electrostatic precipitators, baghouses, or mechanical collection devices such as cyclones. The total coal and lignite consumption of the termic power plant in Türkiye is approximately 5 million tons/year and nearly 15 million tons/year of fly ash is produced annually. Fly ashes which are very important waste in thermal power plants caused very important environmental pollution. For this reason using and evaluation in various areas of fly ash is very important. Different applications should be considered. In this study, usage of fly ash for heavy metal (Cr, Zn and Cu) adsorption from wastewater has been investigated. Pelletization makes fly ashes more porous and resistive. In experimental studies effect on the heavy metal adsorption of the pH effect, fly ash dosage and confirmation of Freundlich adsorption isotherm were examined. Results showed that fly ash pellets exhibits ver good adsorption for zinc, copper and chrome from aqueous solution and pH value is very important and fly ash pellets are good adsorbent. Fly ash pellets can be used in construction sector after adsorption. Consequently, fly ash pellets evaluation can be done in various areas. Keywords: Fly ash, heavy metal, adsorption, pelletization
