Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, the sinterability of fly ash with cryolite-based cell waste was investigated. Cryolite-based cell waste is a waste material generated during the aluminum production process. It is a waste material that comes out during the production of aluminum in the Hall-Heroult electrolysis cell and is costly and troublesome to store. Fly ash is a waste material known as flue dust as a result of burning coal in thermal power plants. These wastes have been evaluated both by considering the waste storage cost and by taking into account the damage they may cause to the nature. Mineralogical and phase analyzes of raw materials were measured in XRD device. In fly ash ceramic masses, 70%, 65%, 60% and 50% were used instead of quartz, 0%, 5%, 10%, 20% ratios of bentonite were used instead of feldspar for cryolite-based cell waste melter, and 30% bentonite was used as clay. DTA-TG and XRD analysis were performed on the electrolysis cell waste, and then Three-point bending test, water absorption measurement, particle size analysis, apparent porosity analysis, color analysis, firing shrinkage measurement and bulk density were performed on all samples. As a conclusion, it was seen that cell waste contributed positively to the sinterability of fly ash.
