Applicability of the system of national health services in Turkey with regard to financing resources

vın SUMMARY In this study, the concept of health and the economic characteristics of health services are examined, the health systems of several countries (mostly the developed ones) are analyzed, and in the light of all these, the current health system in Turkey is evaluated. In doing this, some theoretical models classifying the health systems of countries are also considered. It is seen that, the expenditures on health services have increased continuously in all countries of the world. Therefore, governments have tried to find ways making these expenditures productive and to find sufficient and continuous financial sources. The purpose of all countries is to supply health services to people in the most proper way and to reach the standards set by the World Health Organization. The reason is that the positive relationship between a healthy community and economic development is known well by all countries. The study emphasizes the necessity of establishing a system of "National Health Insurance" in Turkey that will create a healthy society and eliminate the current chaotic structure in financing and supplying health services.
