The crime of aggression as within the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court

International criminal law is a relatively newly emerging area of the international law. And the activation of the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court over the crime of aggression will demonstrate how fast this area of international law will develop. This study mainly focuses on the latest developments about the crime of aggression and presents a moderate spectrum of the historical developments on the issue of crime of aggression and the International Crimial Court. In 2010 a Review Conference convened to activate the jurisdiction of the International Criminal Court on the crime of aggression as early as possible. In the Review Conference an agreement was reached on the definition of the crime of aggression and the conditions for applying jurisdiction on the crime. No permanent court applied jurisdiction on the crime of aggression yet. Having defined the crime of aggression but deferring the exercise of the jurisdiction over that crime the the Statute of the International Criminal Court (as amended) represents a big step forward. This step forward can be perceived as exciting but not as ?enough?.
