Abstract (EN)
In this thesis, the effective applicability of international maritime law rules in international disputes will be examined through the example of the Eastern Mediterranean. The first part will focus on the formation, development, and sources of international maritime law, as well as the impact of these sources in national legal orders. Subsequently, an investigation will be conducted into how the coastal states of the Eastern Mediterranean give effect to international law within their national legal systems. In the second part, the basic concepts of the law of the sea and the principles for delimiting the maritime boundaries will be explained in light of the historical cases of maritime delimitation. In the third part, the maritime jurisdiction delimitation disputes in the Eastern Mediterranean and their effects on problems such as the sharing of energy resources, environmental protection, and search and rescue activities will be evaluated. Finally, the obstacles to the effective implementation of international maritime law rules in national laws and proposals to overcome these obstacles will be discussed through the Black Sea example.
