Abstract (EN)
This study aimed to investigate whether the mandatory compliance to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) leads to an increase in the value relevance of accounting information or not and the role of the national institutional factors such as development of capital market, legal enforcement, cultural factors, legal systems, book-tax conformity in this increase. For this purpose, Turkey and 11 EU countries which have all the necessary data for the research model are identified as the research sample and the period of 2000-2014 is specified as the sample period. Price Model's results suggest that mandatory IFRS adoption, leads to an increase in the value relevance of EPS however it has not a significant effect on the value relevance of BVPS, for both EU countries and Turkey. Moreover, the national institutional factors such as legal enforcement, cultural factors and book-tax conformity have a significant effect on the change in the value relevance of accounting information after mandatory IFRS adoption.
