Özet (EN)

Piracy has always threatened maritime transportation and trade. This threat persists in the 21st century. The increase of maritime piracy especially in the Gulf of Aden and off the coast of Somalia has also attracted the international community attention and led to the establishment of counter-piracy activities in Somalia. In this context, the international community has taken preventive measures against Somalia's pirates. Reduce the intensity of their activities in the Gulf of Aden, where approximately one-fifth of the trade takes place to raise awareness and encourage the fight against Somali piracy, several decisions have been taken by the United Nations Security Council. And multinational operations were conducted by sending military navies in the region to prevent piracy activities in the Gulf of Aden, off the coast of Somalia. The purpose of the thesis is to first reveal the development of the definition of piracy in international law in the historical process. To determine the methods of prevention of piracy and to determine the reasons for the emergence of piracy in the Gulf of Aden off the Somali coast. Second, analyse the extent of the effects of regional actions on the international community and analyse the magnitude of the impact of piracy under international law. It also examines the prevention of piracy in the Gulf of Aden. After all, the fight against piracy in Somalia is an extremely delicate and important issue. Each step of all the work to be done on this sensitive topic must be planned in a very detailed manner and then put into practice. Furthermore, the international community needs to take a very cautious approach to piracy so that the situation in Somalia does not get worse.
