Abstract (EN)

The only chance of survival for the companies that are in the condition of tough global competition is to respond to the market in a swiftly, economically and appropriately fashion. Therefore, for the companies, the importance of logistic activities is increasing gradually and the companies are in need for a strong logistic substructure. Not only companies, but also countries are interfering several logistic investments to take an active role in the growing global trade. Today, international logistics management becomes a key element in the global trade.For the reasons like the three-fourths of earth is covered by water, the movement of trade to overseas, more efficient and economic transportation capability than other transportation modals , it can be observed that the movement of the goods that are related to the global trade is mostly performed on sea. In the system of international transportation and logistics, the importance of the sea transportation and maritime sector are increasing for their aid to the economy and foreign trade of countries, despite the large amount of investment requirements. Whatsmore every country that has a logistic base vision and a shore to the sea, is conscious of developing a port substructure first of all. In this work, the importance of sea transportation and maritime sector in the international logistic system and the efficiency of Turkey in this field are being emphasized and discussed.
