The effects of international trade union organizations on national unions: The case of transport sector in Turkey

There are different approaches to international trade unionism as trade union imperialism or labor aristocracy, outside the globalization of labor. Established international organizations; It is evaluated within the framework of these approaches according to the relations with the governments, international organizations, and global capital and the activities it shows. In this study, histories and activities of international trade unions are evaluated based on literature. In multinational corporations that are important in the process of globalization, the effects of the Global Union Federations on the organization of national trade unions through international framework agreements and global industrial action activities are emphasized. The evaluation of the impact of international trade union organizations on national trade unions and mutual relations are based on empirical research. In the research, it is discussed relations between the trade unions of the transport sector in Turkey, International Transport Workers' Federation, and Europe Transport Workers' Federation, because transport sector has strategic importance in the globalization.
