Evaluation of blockchain use in international trade with SWOT analysis

Cryptocurrency and blockchain technology have reached a wide audience with technological developments in today's world. Whether crypto money will replace fiat money has been the subject of constant debate for years, and no clear finding has been obtained. The volatility in crypto money prices, the approach of countries and their openness to manipulations do not fully trust crypto money. While some countries stay close to cryptocurrencies, some countries follow a distant attitude. Along with crypto money, the blockchain system comes to an important point in our lives due to its features such as speed, security, cost and no need for third parties. Blockchain system is a system that has the potential to make a place for itself not only in crypto money systems but also in almost all areas of life. Another feature of blockchain technology, which is seen among the most important features, is that it has the potential to be used in the payments system. In this thesis, previous studies and examples in the literature on the integration of crypto money and blockchain systems into international trade were examined and the applicability of the integration of crypto money and blockchain system to international trade was aimed and SWOT analysis method was applied. According to the analyzes and researches made, there are common approaches on the subject that are agreed on. In the light of these studies, there is no clear answer about the integration of currently used cryptocurrencies into international trade due to the restrictions and approaches of countries. However, since cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology will make international trade faster and cheaper, countries have started to prepare their own cryptocurrencies. In this way, the effect of exchange rates in international trade will be reduced and worldwide payments will be made faster and easier. On the other hand, blockchain technology will also be used in the payments system, and it shows that there will be no need for banks and financial institutions, since it does not have an intermediary or a central authority in the payments to be made with this technology. The security created by the fact that the transactions made cannot be changed will be an important factor in international trade. Compared to existing cryptocurrencies, countries have a more positive view of the blockchain system and when the studies are examined, it is seen that the transition to the blockchain system will be made in the near future.
