Effects on some biochemical values of judoka's fluid compressing in the categories of the cadets and junior

Abstract (EN)

In this study, it was aimed to determine whether there are any significant differences between some biochemical values which can give an idea about the effects of the dehydration on the body and the damages to the body comparing the period when judoists, competing in U-21 and Juniors (14-19 years) Turkey Judo Championships, are exposed to fluid loss with the pre-competition period when they are not exposed to fluid loss. A total of 32 jodoists, called for the national team at least once, voluntarily participated in the study. The Judoists who participated in the study was given pre-competition training for 3 weeks. All the values taken from the judoists participating in the study were taken before and after the training program and necessary analyzes were performed. Age, height and sport age values of the participating groups were determined as 17 years, 1,69 cm, 6 years, respectively. Body weight pre test average was 64,17 ± 17,4 kg, post test average was 61,22 ± 16,62 kg, body mass index pre test average was 22,05, post test average was 21,03. Blood Hgb pre test average was 14,02 ± 1,11, post test average was 13,31 ± 0,74, Blood Hct pre test average was 41,69 ± 2,83, post test average was 45,87 ± 2,81, urea pre test average was 14.34 ± 1.9, post test average was 20.41 ± 5.05, urinary pH pre test average was 6.03 ± 0.7, and post test average was 5.91 ± 0.49. Significant differences were found in weight and BMI values before and after the 3 week pre-competition preparation period. There were also significant differences in Hemoglobin, Hematocrit and Urea values from Biochemistry values but no significant differences were found in Urine pH value. As a result; it is thought that this is the situation where athletes are likely to suffer from health problems in many different directions, especially in later ages, because the adjustment of the weight is made unconsciously and unplanned. Weight adjustments of athletes by acute and excessive dehydration should be prevented and athletes should be directed to balanced diet and planned weight control.
