Abstract (EN)

Aim: Migration, which is a historical phenomenon, maintains its dynamic feature today, although the reasons behind it change, and it grows rapidly as a global phenomenon and affects the economic, demographic, political and cultural structures of states. The aim of our research is to examine all the social processes experienced by Syrian immigrants who fled the Syrian civil war and took refuge in Turkey and settled in Adıyaman and are currently receiving university education, since the first day they arrived. Materyal and Method: In this study, qualitative research method was used. We preferred the phenomenological design because it was suitable for the subject we wanted to investigate in our study. Our study consists of two parts: theoretical and practical. After the conceptual background was created, field work was carried out. Interviews were conducted with 14 Syrian students, their classmates, 15 Turkish students, and 12 academics. Results: In our study, the phenomenon of migration, the reasons for migration, concepts related to migration, changes experienced as a result of migration and the adventure of immigrants in Türkiye were examined. The findings obtained from interviews with Syrian students, Turkish students and academics were analyzed. Conclusion: As a result, living and receiving education in a foreign country's culture causes students to experience adaptation, educational, cultural and social problems. These problems naturally affect the future expectations of immigrant youth. Since these young people cannot find a safe living space in their own countries, they seek to live in other countries.
