Opinions of personnel working in administrative financial affairs university faculties on the job stress experienced: Case study

In our present time, the human life has been altered by socio-cultural and technological factors. The altered human life has influenced individuals both positively and negatively. Individuals who are negatively affected have felt the stress and attempted to find ways of coping with his/her concern in every aspect of life with least damage. The stress felt by humans, has big impact on their decisions, and is one of the factors influencing their interactions with their families/environments Particularly the stress experienced at work for various reasons has increased the level of concern depending on the type of work and it caused psychological and physiological problems for individuals. Dissent among co-workers, work-related factors, disagreements between subordinate and superordinate workers and most importantly financial compensations and investigations awaiting workers in case of possible malfunctions all contribute to stressful situations for workers. Due to the stress experienced one cannot be expected to get rewarding job experiences at work. In order to get rewarding experiences at work, the workers should be provided with conditions that are conducive for their psychological and physical wellbeing. Our study, which is a qualitative research, was investigated using descriptive single- case patterned method. The sampling of the research consisted of 12 volunteer staff working in the administrative financial affairs unit of the faculties within the borders of Akdeniz University between the years 2020-2021. By using a semi-structured interview form, content analysis was done and the results obtained were directly explained with a descriptive narrative. The themes that emerged as a result of the examination were classified in line with the objectives of the research.
