Abstract (EN)

The developing countries are trying to reach the same level as the world?s leading powers and are indeed trying their best to keep up with them not only on a social and economical level but also scientific. Therefore we can see the increasing importance of universities the leaders of this shift in the scientific world. The expanding interest in the development of research has lead the universities to expand their campuses away from the citycenters and therefore develop an autosufficient unity. The development and expansion of campuses is based on an intensive study of the area they would move to as well as the design of the architectonic block considering the requirement of detailed programme of needs. This processes is crutial for developement of a university campus on the long run to achive all the desired goals. It is also proved through research and analysis that growth and flexibility are main elements of the design process. These elements actually would help the university to grow in time and still be responding required needs. For this reason university design criterias and settlement systems were analised and found out that campuses as a whole are infleuced by external and internal factors forming a flexible programme directly connected. So it is extremely important for university campuses to achive their primary goal and keep up with the ever changing world. And thus be aware of their development and expansions as well as their settlement system and design criterias.
