Social media librarianship in providing effective university libraries services

The use of social media as a common and effective means of communication has also mobilized libraries, whose aim is to bring together information sources and users in the easiest, fastest and most economical way. Social media environments are now actively being used in order to reach more users more quickly and effectively in the promotion / marketing of library resources and services. The main purpose of the study is to provide information about the current usage and to reveal the importance, size and necessity of using social media in libraries. The ultimate goal is to help to see social media communication as a business definition by revealing why libraries are required to use social media to enable them to perform effective and widespread information services. Nowadays, examples of how university libraries employ personnel with the title of et social media librarian anel are increasing. In this context, it is one of the aims of the study to make the definition of job and the features required to be owned by the personnel to be employed as social media librarian. In the collection of information about the use of social media tools in the provision of social media tools and libraries, the documentary screening method was used to collect the data from the documentary screening method, the description of the information obtained, the method of description and the findings, evaluations and recommendations regarding the use of social media uses of university libraries in our country. The questionnaire was applied to 186 university libraries and SPSS program was used to evaluate the findings. At the end of the study, data on library services carried out in social media libraries in our country were obtained and the current situation was revealed, and the results of social media librarianship in Turkey and social media librarian's job description were revealed.
