Abstract (EN)
This study focuses on the views of employees in university libraries on the shift work system and the attitudes and behaviors that these views reveal. Within the scope of the specified subject, it is aimed to identify the positive and negative situations experienced by the personnel working in the shift system of the state and foundation universities libraries. For the determination of the mentioned subjects, eleven libraries, five of which are foundations and six of which are state university libraries, were selected from the university libraries in our country, a total of twelve people who work as managers and normal employees in these libraries were selected as a sample. Nine questions were asked to these people who participated in the study, and some findings were obtained from the answers given to these questions. The obtained findings were analyzed and specific conclusions were drawn, and various solution offers were presented through these conclusions. At the end of the thesis study, it was understood that librarians working in university libraries had negative thoughts towards the shift system in general. It was found that employees have problems in their individual, family, and social lives and it has been observed that they have great problems especially in terms of health status and personal satisfaction. It has also been emphasized by participants that the shift system also causes some problems in institutional aspects. It has been stated that there are personnel, cost, etc. related problems that occur especially during the execution of the shift system and affect the organizational structure. The most important recommendation for solving the stated negative situations was that the daily problems faced by employees in their working lives should be quickly resolved by the administrators. In addition, administrative and financial arrangements to be made such as corporate business associations were also seen as another recommendation to be quickly put on the agenda that will fundamentally solve the encountered problems.
