International practises for the collection of ephemera in university and national libraries

The aim of this study is to detect ephemera collections in libraries. Research area of the study was limited to university and national libraries. The first 100 university libraries were examined in the study which were covered in the THE (Times Higher Education) World University Rankings 2020. Among 193 UN member states, 92 countries that have a national library, a national library website. and have open access to data about their collections have been researched. Web pages of the university and national libraries were examined to determine the ephemera collections, and the library catalogs were scanned with the keyword "ephemera". In the first section of the thesis, the first ephemerists and ephemera associations, the definition of ephemera and the topics used for the term ephemera are included. In the second section of the thesis, the introduction of ephemera collections in university libraries, in the third part, the promotion of ephemera collections in the national libraries have been included; in the fourth section of the thesis, the search results of the university and national library catalog scans are presented. As a result of this study, the research process related to university and national libraries were evaluated and solutions have been proposed.
