Abstract (EN)
Abstract: Aim: This study was performed to assess the effect of traumatic childhood experinces on dissociative lives, borderline personality disorder, psychological sign distribution and family functions, among the university students. Method: 265 male, 220 female, totally 485 first degree student from the different faculties of Dicle University enrolled to the study.All the students asked to complete Sociodemographic Data Form, borderline personality disorder part of DSM-HI SCID-II, Short Physical and Sexuel Abuse Form, Symptom Checklist Revised (SCL-90-R), Dissociative Experiences Scale (DES), and Family assessment Device (FAD). Findings: 79.4 % of subjects described at least one form of abuse.Physchical wound 10.9 %, physchical punishment 22.1 %, sexuel abuse (incest included) 12%, and only incest found 6.7 %. 9.6 % of students described sexuel abuse from outside of the family, 6.7 % described sexuel abuse from closed relatives. Family members were responsible from 40.8 % of sexuel abuse of the students. The avarage DES score was 22.2 for the female, 22.3 for the male students and avarage of the total was 22.8. As the answers for the Short Physical and Sexuel Abuse Form increased, DES avarage was increasing.In our study, when DES evaluated with age; DES was decreasing when age was increased. DES score avarage of age groups 17-18, 19-20, 21-22, 23-24, 25 and over is found as 28.4, 23.5, 22.1, 20.8 and 16.7. We couldn't find relationship between sociodemographic data and dissociative experiences. DES, Short Physical and Sexuel Abuse, SCL-90-R and FAD scores found high at borderline featured subjects. Result: Childhood traumas are found to be related with borderline features, high dissociation levels, increase at all psychological signs, and disturbed family function.Also high levels of psychological signs were related with each other.Physicopatalogy developing after childhood trauma, can determine the identity and personality features Key Words: Childhood traumas, dissociation, borderline personality disorder, psychological sign distribution, family evaluation 68
