The investigation of the relationships between anger-in, anticipation anxiety and depression among university students

Abstract (EN)

The purpose of this study is to examine the relationships between depression, anticipation anxiety, and internalizing anger expression style among university students. Within this scope, it was investigated whether depression and expectancy anxiety symptoms cause any changes in the internalizing anger expression style, and furthermore, how the anger expression style is associated with these two symptoms. This research was conducted using a quantitative method, specifically the correlational survey model. The population of the study consists of university students studying undergraduate and graduate programs in Turkey. A sample of 402 individuals participated in the study using a convenient sampling method. For data collection, a personal information form prepared by the researcher, the Boratav Depression Screening Scale (Bordepta), the Anger Expression Scales (AngerEx), and the Structered Clinical Interview for Panic-Agoraphobia Spectrum (SCI-PAS) were used. The SPSS 25.0 software was utilized for data analysis, including Pearson correlation analysis, one-way between-groups analysis of variance (ANOVA), independent samples t-test, regression analysis, and Tukey analysis. According to the findings obtained from the study, significant differences were found between the groups compared based on gender regarding depression and expectancy anxiety. Individuals who defined themselves as introverted were compared to those who defined themselves as exroverted, and significant differences were found in terms of depression, anticipation anxiety, and anger-in. There was a moderate, positive, and significant relationship between anger-in and depression, as well as between anger-in and anticipation anxiety. A moderate, positive, and significant relationship was also found between anticipation anxiety and depression. The level of anger-in and anticipation anxiety increases the level of depression. Also level of depression and anticipatiob anxiety increases the level of anger-in.
