Abstract (EN)

Based on the studies that show the existence of the relationship between the identity development and attachment, in this research, it is researched that if the university students? experience of identity diffusion becomes different according to their attachment styles. Also, the relationship between attachment styles and gender, education of mother and father, economic condition, psychological wellness and other variables and the relationship between KDDA scores and age, gender, education of mother and father, economic condition, psychological wellness and other variables investigated.A total of 773 students (511 female and 262 male) who study in various universities in Aydın and İzmir participated in the research. The age range is 17-30 and average of age is 20.56. The data collection tools are Instrument for Assessing Identity Confusion (IFAIC) and Experience In Close Relationships II (EICR II). Results show that the hypothesis of there is a relationship between identity and attachment styles is supported. The relationships between IFAIC scores and age, gender, education of mother and father, economic condition and psychological wellness are investigated and found that there is a relationship between IFAIC scores and mothers? education and between IFAIC scores and economic condition but there is no relationship between IFAIC scores and age, gender, fathers? education and psychological wellness. The relationships between attachment styles and gender, education of mother and father, economic condition, psychological wellness and habituation are investigated and found that there is a relationship between attachment styles and gender; between attachment styles and mothers? and fathers? education and economic condition but there is no relationship between attachment styles and psychological wellness and habituation. The results obtained were discussed in accordance with the relevant literature.Key words: Personality Attachment, Identity Diffusion, Attachment Styles.
