The study's universe consisted of 2426 female students who attended the normal education at the faculties and colleges of Mus Alparslan University. The sample of the study consisted of 736 students. Participant Presentation Form, Premenstrual Syndrome Scale and Cervantes Personality Scale were used to collect the data. The data were collected at random intervals of the week between September 19 and November 4, 2016. Cronbach alpha reliability analysis test, arithmetic mean, standard deviation, t test in independent groups, Pearson Correlation Analysis and Chi square tests were used in the evaluation of the data. Finding: In the study, 62% of the students had premenstrual syndrome. There was a significant relationship between premenstrual syndrome and emotional balance/neuroticism and consistency/incoherence personality trait of the students (p <0.05). However, there was no significant relationship between intravertion/extravertion of personality trait and premenstrual syndrome (p> 0.05). It was detected that as the average score of extravertion subscale of Cervantes Personality Scale increased, the average score of appetite change sub-dimension of Prementrual Syndrome Scale decreased and when the Cervantes Personality Scale neuroticism subscale scores increased, the average scores of all subscale scores increased in parallel with the Premenstrual Syndrome Scale (p <0.05). Results: More than half of the students were found to have Premenstrual Syndrome, and more Premenstrual Syndrome were found to be neurotic and incoherent. Personality trait should be considered in premenstrual syndrome treatment approach. Key words: University students, premenstrual syndrome, personality trait, Premenstrual Syndrome Scale, Cervantes Personality Scale.
