Özet (EN)

The purpose of this study; The aim of this course is to examine the effects of non-athletes elective Physical Education and Sports courses at the faculties and schools where they are educated at the university with low physical activity levels and non-athletes. The sample of the study consisted of 240 students (123 women, 117 men) who took elective Physical Education and Sports courses in Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University in the spring term of the 2018-2019 academic year, and who voluntarily participated in the study with the permission of the research. In the research, screening, questionnaire and pretest-posttest experimental methods were used. In order to determine the personal characteristics of university students, the information form, the Body Perception Scale adapted to Turkish by Hovardaoğlu and Özdemir (1990), and the Communication Skills Evaluation Scale (IBAS) adapted to Turkish by Korkut (1996b) and the form for determining biometric properties were used. Before the research, students were filled with identity information, body perception and communication skills scales. Preliminary testing of biomotoric properties at the beginning of the semester; (Height, Weight, Flexibility, Balance, Vertical Jumping, Back, Triceps, Biceps, Waist, Abdomen, Leg) measurements were taken in accordance with the measurement protocols in the Faculty of Sports Sciences. The same measurements were repeated by the researcher as the posttest at the end of the 14th week. The data obtained in the study were tested with the SPSS program. Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test was carried out to determine whether the data show normal distribution and analyzes were carried out with parametric tests. Since there is only one group and two measurements on this group, the related groups test was used in the analysis process. In addition, percentage (%), arithmetic mean (¯x), standard deviation (ss) and frequency (n) values were determined to determine the descriptive properties of the study data. Since the pretest and posttest scores of the study group showed normal distribution, whether there was a significant difference between the pretest scores and posttest scores, independent samples were carried out with the t-test. In addition, t-test and One Way ANOVA analysis were used to determine the significant differentiation status of the scores according to the groups. The level of significance in analyzing the data was determined as (p) 0.05. It was revealed that the perception and social communication scores of university students who took the Elective Physical Education and Sports courses increased compared to before the class, and when the pre-test post-test average of the students' biometric properties were examined, the "weight" pre-test average score was higher than the post-test average. It was observed that the "flexibility" pretest score was lower than the posttest score and the "bounce" pretest score was lower than the posttest score. "Balance" of the pre-test score, post-test score; From the "back" pretest score, posttest score; "Triceps" pre-test score, post-test score "biceps" pre-test score, post-test score; "Waist" pre-test score, post-test score; It turned out that the "abdominal" pretest score was higher than the posttest score and the "leg" pretest score was higher than the posttest score. As a result, elective physical education and sports classes attended by university students; It can be said that it has positive effects on some biomotoric features, body perception and social communication skills. Elective Physical education and sports courses can be added as a compulsory course in universities considering that individuals have positive physiological, sociological and psychological effects.
