Abstract (EN)
In this study, the purpose is to determine whether there is a relation between the irrational beliefs of university students and their self-construal. In addition, it was also aimed to determine the levels of the perceptions of university students on irrational beliefs and self-construal, and investigate whether these perceptions vary according to demographical variables. This study is in the Relational Review Model. The study population consists of the students studying at Adıyaman University, Educational Faculty in2016-2017 academic year. The sampling of the study consists of 527 university students who were selected with the "Simple Random Sampling Method". A data collection tool consisting of three parts was created in this study. In the first part of the data collection tool, there is the "Personal Information Form"; in the second part, there is the "Irrational Beliefs Scale" and in the third part, there is the "Relational-Individualist-Collectivist Personality (RIC) Scale". The "Independent Sampling T-Test" and the "One-Way Variance Analysis (ANOVA)" were used for the sub-problems. In variables in which significant differences were detected after the analyses, the "Tukey HSD Test" was applied to determine from which variable the difference stemmed. The relation between the variables of the study was measured with the "Correlation Coefficient". 70.2% of the students participating in the study are women, and 29.8% are male. The students who participated in the survey had an average of 3.77 and their level of "Unreasonable", the average of self-image was 5.63 and their level was "Reflect me". It was determined in the study that there is a low-level positive relation between the "Irrational Beliefs" and "Self-construal". In addition, a low-level and positive relation was also detected between the "Individualism and Collectivism", which are the sub-dimensions of the "Irrational Beliefs"; and a positive medium-level relation between the "Relationality" dimension. Key Words: Non-Rational Beliefs, Self-Editing, University Student.
