Abstract (EN)

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between university students emotional eating behaviors with childhood traumas and life positions. The research sample consisted of 266 participants, 164 women and 102 men using a convenient sampling method. The participants were administered the Emotional Eating Scale, Childhood Trauma Scale, and Life Positions Scale, studied for validity and reliability. In addition, the Personal Information Form, which was created by the researcher and included the demographic characteristics of the participants concerning the research, was applied. In the correlation analysis of the data, there is a statistically significant relationship between emotional eating, one of the study's main variables, and childhood traumas. As a result of multivariate analysis of variance; There was a statistically significant difference between the scores obtained from the sub-dimensions of the emotional eating scale and life positions. It was also found that there were statistically significant differences between the scores obtained from all sub-dimensions of the childhood traumas scale and life positions. According to the regression analysis results, it was seen that physical abuse and physical neglect, which are sub-dimensions of childhood trauma, predict emotional eating behavior. Furthermore, it has been found that emotional eating behavior differs according to age and gender. It has been observed that childhood traumas also show differences according to age and gender. In the light of the findings obtained from the research and by examining the studies in the literature, the relationship between emotional eating behavior, childhood traumas, and life positions was discussed, interpreted and suggestions were made for future research.
