Investigation of the relationship between university students' e-learning styles and technology addiction

This study aims to examine the relationship between university students' technology addictions and their e-Learning styles. The study has carried out with 143 students studying at different departments and different grade levels at Yeditepe University in 2020-2021. The e-Learning Styles Scale developed by Gülbahar & Alper (2014) and the Technology Addiction Scale developed by Aydın (2017) were used in this study. The data obtained were analyzed with the SPSS program. Independent Sample t-test and One-Way ANOVA test were applied to normally distributed data. In the data that did not show normal distribution, Mann-Whitney U test was used to compare paired groups, and Kruskal Wallis test was used to compare groups of three or more. In case of statistical significance, the Tamhane's T2 test was applied to determine the meaningful groups. The results of the analyzes are shown in statistical tables. As a result of the research, it was determined that the technology addiction levels of the students were "Low-Level Dependent". When the e-Learning styles of the students have examined, it has seen that the e-Learning style that the participants have the most is "Audio-Visual Learner e-Learning Style". There is a negative and significant relationship between university students' Social Network Addiction and"Audio-Visual e-Learning Style", a negative and significant relationship between Online Game Addiction and "Independent Learner e-Learning Style", a negative and significant relationship between Technology Addiction and "Audio-Visual Learner e- Learning Style", a negative and significant relationship between having an Online Game Addiction and an "Independent Learner e-Learning Style", a negative and significant relationship between having an Technology Addiction and an "Independent Learner e-Learning Style", a negative and significant relationship was found between Game Addiction and having an "Intuitive Learner e-Learning Style" and a negative and significant relationship between Online Game Addiction and the overall e-learning styles scale.
