Studying attitude of mate selection of university students in the way of individual characteristics

In this research, individual characteristics of the university students to the effect of the attitude of mate selection was studied. The pattern of research is defined as illustrator and cross sectional design in the scanning model. In the 2015-2016 school year, spring term, the working group of the research is consist of total 307 people who 220 of them are girls, 87 of them are boys who have been studying at the Çağ university. "Personal Information Form" to determine the individual characteristics of participants, "Romance and Mate Selection Attitude Scale" to determine the attitude of mate selection is used. Sex, current relationship, relationship status, relationship's time, the thought of marriage, the way thought to bring about marriage, given time for wedding plan and the status of parent's togetherness have been discussed as individual characteristics of participants. According to statistical findings, attitudes of mate selection have been shown meaningful differentiation for sub-dimensions such as: according to sex ''cohabitation''(p<0,05), according to current relationship ''idealization''(p<0,05), according to thought of marriage ''love is enough'', ''ease of effort'', ''opposites complement'' , ''cohabitation'', ''idealization'' (p<0,05), according to the time given for wedding plan ''cohabitation'', ''opposites compliment'', ''ease of effort'', ''complete assurance'', ''idealization'' and ''love is enough''(p<0,05), according to the way which marriage brings about, ''love is enough'', ''ease of effort'', ''complete assurance'' and ''opposite compliment'' (p<0,05). In any case, attitudes of mate selection have not been shown meaningful differentiations in the way of time of relationship, relationship status, and the status of parent's togetherness. Research findings are discussed within the literature and given suggestions.
