The investigation of the influences of emotional intelligence and hopelessness on marital attitudes among university students

The base of the research is the investigation of the influences of emotional intelligence and hopelessness on marital attitudes among university students. Marital Attitudes Scale, Emotional Intelligence Scale and Beck's Hopelessness Scale were utilized in this research. Unlike scales, questions that include personal informations were prepared by researcher. The questions were accepted as independent variables. Both scales and questionnaire of personal informations had been applied to participants at the same time. The significances of consequences of this application were tried to show by researcher. The fundamentals of the reseach are review and descriptive. The population of the research is the students of Dokuz Eylül Üniversitesi / University, Buca Eğitim Fakültesi / Faculty of Education in 2017 – 2018 academic year. The sample of the research is students from any different departments and classes in faculty that is mentioned. In that research, voluntariness is the base and participants were selected by the criteria of convenience sampling. 270 students participated the research and 105 of 270 were male and 165 of 270 were female. The datas of participants were analyzed by statistical techniques. After the statistical analyzes, positive and significant relations were found among marital attitudes, emotional intelligence and hopelessness. The factor of gender was founds statistically significant in all scales. While the factor age does not show the significance, the class in university was supplied the significance in emotional intelligence and hopelessness. The other questions that were prepared by the researcher were shown the significance in Marital Attitudes Scale, Beck's Hopelessness Scale, Emotional Intelligence and its subdimensions. The consequences of the research were interpreted by light of literature and recommendations were given.
