Abstract (EN)
This research has done as a semi-experimental research to measure the effect of peer education model for teaching Breast Self Examination (BSE) to Buca Educational Faculty of Departments of Primary School Education, Science Education, Turkish Language and Teaching late adolescent women students in Dokuz Eylul University. 15 volunteer students has been teached by researher about KKMM program, so they have got peer instructor experience. In this research, each instructor has teached KKMM program other 10 students, so 150 students has taken this program. Demographics Data of Students has investigated by researcher. In this investigation, Maurer's (1997) BSE Education Form I and H, BSE Utilization Form, BSE Regular Utilization Form has been used. These forms have been evaluated and then the supplied data have been analysed with "Independent Samples T Test", "Paired Samples T Test", "Mc Nemar Test", "Pearson Correlation Analyse". Before education, students' BSE knowledge point mean was 43,00 (±11,74), on the contrary, the mean point reached to 88,16(± 8,15) after education. As it seems that there is a significant differences between the results. (p<0,05). Students' BSE knowledge point mean was 86,85(± 9,69) after three weeks education. There is a significant differences between before education and three weeks later education of BSE knowledge point mean (p<0,05). Students before education of BSE regular utilizition 2,66 %, after education of BSE regular utilization 66%. There is a significant differences (p<0,05). Students' BSE skill utilization point mean was 91,50(± 7,25) after three weeks education. There is a significant relation between after education of BSE skill utilization point mean and three weeks later education of BSE knowledge point mean(p<0,05). As a result, a peer education model for teaching BSE to university women students has been found effective.
