The investigation of interpersonel cognitive distortions of university students with forgiveness of others behaviours

The aim of this research is the investigation of the relationship between ınterpersonal cognitive distortions of university students and forgiveness of others. The parameters of the research have been collected from the university students (based on the principle of willingness) who study at Gazi university with method of accessible modelling, The research group consisted of 126 male and 194 female in total 320 students. In collection of the parameters of the research, ? Heartland Forgiveness Scale? and ?Interpersonal Cognitive Distortions Scale? have been used. SPSS 18.0 package software was used to analyse data. In order to determine interpersonal cognitive distortions and forgiveness of others of university students the difference according to gender ındependent sample t test have been used. For the detection of relationships between the scores of ınterpersonal cognitive distortions (Interpersonal Rejection, Unrealistic Relationship Expectation, Interpersonal Misperception) and forgiveness of others of students PMKK analyze was made. As a result of the research, The scores of forgiveness of others of female students are significantly higher than male students. The total scores of interpersonal cognitive distortions of male students are significantly higher than female students. The total scores of interpersonal cognitive distortions and forgiveness of others the relationship between the low level, the negative and significant correlation was found. The scores of interpersonal misperception cognitive distortions and forgiveness of others of students the relationship between the significant correlation was not found. The scores of unrealistic relationship expectation cognitive distortions and forgiveness of others the relationship between the low level, the positive and significant correlation was found. The scores of interpersonal rejection cognitive distortions and forgiveness of others the relationship between the medium level, the negative and significant correlation was found. As a result of the research, The scores of interpersonal rejection cognitive distortions and forgiveness of others the relationship between meaningful relationships was found. In particular, by shedding light on the efforts to increase the awareness of interpersonal cognitive distortions? and individuals? forgiveness configurate ıntervention programs and forgiveness behaviors? with of the relationship between interpersonal cognitive distortions brought a new dimension to handle.
