The personality characteristic perfectionist of university students with study of defferint various due to empathy levels

The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between perfectionist personality characteristics and empathy levels of university students in terms of various variables. For this reason, the study was carried out with randomly selected 430 female and male students from Gazi University Gazi Faculty of Education social and science-mathematics programs. In this study, Multidimensional Perfectionism Scale Özbay and Mısırlı Taşdemir (2003), and Interpersonal Reactivity Scale developed by Davis (1980) and adapted to Turkish by Özbay and Yıldırım (2003) were used. A demographics form is also constructed to gather personal information. In the study, Manova, Person Moments Product Correlation, t-test, Anova and scheffe test Techniques were used.The difference between the scores of gender-on perfectionism sub-dimensions and empathy sub-dimensions of the university students is not significant. However, the difference between the scores of perfectionism sub-dimensions (concern over mistakes, parent expectations and personal standards) and empathy sub-dimension (Perspective taking) is not have a significant. The difference between the scores of age-based perfectionism sub-dimensions and empathy sub-dimensions of the university students did not have a significant difference. However, according to age, a significant difference was observed when compared to (personal stress), which is a sub-dimension of empathy. Perfectionism sub dimensions and empathy sub-dimensions of the university students did not have a significant difference according to their fields of study or departments. There is no significant grade differences on perfectionism sub-dimensions except on sub-measure of doupting about actions. There is also no significant class differences on empathy measures.
