The reasons of participation to the folk-dances as a recreational activity of the students of university

Abstract (EN)

The perspectives of university students about the folk-dances, who were interested in folk-dances as a recreational activity in this research of participation and to be different or not to be different of these reasons according to the several variables have been examined in detail.The university students who were interested in the folk-dances as a recreational activity and the students who continue their education in the universities Ankara in the spring period of 2007-2008 education-teaching year have been formed the total field under survey at Gazi University, Hacettepe University, METU (Middle East Technical University) and Ankara University have been formed. The personel knowledge and survey form have been used in the scope of this search. The optained knowledge from these two forms as a frequency and percentage has been displayed, the reasons of participation to the folk-dances to the different variables, however to be different or not tobe different have been controlled by One-Way ANOVA (One Way Variance Analysis) and the independent group t test. The significance level of 0,5 in the research as been accepted.As a result of this search;1)A great deal of students (68,3%) has been interested in folk-dances, 25,6% of them has been partially interested in, a faint of them (6%) has not been interested in.2)A great majority of students (59,4%) have been began the folk-dances before the university period.3)A great majority of students have been intended to be interested in folk-dance all over their lives although not providing any material gain with the branch of folk-dance.4)The students who say that they intend to folk-dance all over their lives, are (135) near to all of them (123), they saw the folk-dance as an item that declined the bodily and spiritual stresses and they have intended to encourage them to play folk-dances.5)The students who have been intended to the folk-dance by the reasons of more social, personal and physical development, healthy way of living, having time in fun etc.; the reasons of economic and environmental have not been effected to them to intend to the folk-dances more. Furthermore, in this research, sexuality of students, the socio-economic level of their parents, according to levels of class and the university that the students study in have been seen that their intendancy reasons that have differentiation.According to the problems that depend on the results of study, the suggestions have been given at the end of the study by researcher.Key Words: The university students, recreation, folk-dances.
