Investigation of university students leisure time satisfaction levels (Şirnak University example)

The aim of this research is to examine the leisure time satisfaction levels of students studying at Şırnak University in terms of different variables. The population of this research consists of 3346 (1280 Female and 2066 Male) students studying at Şırnak University in the 2019-2020 season. In the sample, all students studying at Şırnak University were sent a mass message via SMS, the survey link prepared via Google Forms, shared on the social media accounts of the university, and 551 (292 Female and 259 Male) people were reached by making an announcement on the official page of Şırnak University Graduate Education Institute. The scale to be used to collect data in the research; There is a personal information form consisting of 10 questions that determines the socio-demographic characteristics of the participants, prepared by the researchers, and a 24-item leisure satisfaction scale developed by Beard and Ragheb (1980) and adapted into Turkish by Gökçe et al. (2008). SPSS 22 package program was used to evaluate the data and find the calculated values. In the research, descriptive statistical analyzes were made for the questions in the personal information form. Frequency and percentage and normality analysis results were examined in order to determine whether there are differences in leisure time satisfaction in terms of demographic data and to interpret the data obtained. Accordingly, parametric tests (One Way ANOVA) and independent sample test (t-test) were used. Tukey correlation test was used to find the significant difference in pairwise comparisons within groups. According to the results of the research; It was found that the "physiological" sub-dimension scores of the students studying at Şırnak University differed statistically significantly according to the gender variable of their leisure time satisfaction levels. It was determined that there was a statistically significant difference according to the age variable, income rate of the family, the proficiency of the recreational areas at the university and the difficulty of the participants in evaluating the leisure time.
