The analysis of the concept life satisfaction level and self compassion level on university students

The purpose of this study was to investigate life satisfaciton level, self compassion level and the relationship between subscales of self compassion gender, number of siblings and grade level among university students. The study is a descriptive work composed of 1082 participants fom 1th,2th,3th and 4th grades. The data was collected from Abant İzzet Baysal University; Educational Faculty,Science and Art Faculty, Medicine Faculty, Engineering and Architecture Faculty, Health Occupational High School, Physical Educational High School, Kemal Demir Physical Theraphy and Rehabilitation High School. Sub-problems are analyzed by using Descriptive statistics, Correlation and Multi way analysis of variance (MANOVA)According to the research; the life satisfaciton level was X= 4,16 and self compassion level was X= 2,81. Lifes satisfaciton had positive correlations between self kindness, mindfulness and common humanity and had negatif correlations between self judgment, isolation and over identification. Females had significantly lower scores than males on the mindfulness sub- scale and females had significantly higher scores than males on over identification sub scale. According to number of siblings , the students who have 2-4 siblings had significantly lower scores than the students who have more than 4 siblings on the self kindness sub-scale. Also the students who have more than 4 siblings had significantly higher scores more than the students who have 2-4 siblings on the mindfulness sub-scale. On the over identification sub-scale 1.th grade students had significantly higher scores than 4.th grade students. Also 3.th grade students had significantly higher scores than 4.th grade students on the over identification sub-scale.Key Words: self compassion, life satisfaciton, university students
