Düzce Technopark Inc. enterprise within the scope of university - industry cooperation: Case, problems and solution offers

The University-Industry cooperation is an innovative cooperation between entrepreneur components and universities or scientific research institutions and this cooperation transfers tangible or intangible technical information from university to industry. Technoparks are one of the most important interfaces where this transfer is carried out and the universities, industrial organizations and research laboratories have been developing their scientific, technological and R&D activities within the same environment. They are organized places and being supported by the state both financially and in terms of infrustructural capabilities. The purpose of this study is to analyse why technoparks which began their activities in early 90-ies in Turkey have not reached the desirable success. While analysing this we have taken into consideration both literature review and Technopark and Industry in Düzce. Another purpose of this study is to research for solution advices, the conditions of success and development. For carrying out the purpose of the study it was interviewed with Directorate of Technopark in Düzce, Rectorship of Düzce University, Düzce Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Directorate of Organized Industry in Düzce and 12 industrial enterprises manufacturing in Düzce. Information, data and findings gained during interviews, experience about work item, problem and solution offers, development and success conditions are being researched by qualitative research method. In example of Düzce Technopark and Industry of Düzce, it is being presented by the analyses carried out that how Turkey could be successful in R&D, innovation and commercialising the produced technology at a level of developed countries.
